It was that time of year again….. It was time for the Mad Cow Halloween party. This year we held it on a Friday night and we wondered if anyone would turn up. As it was, lots of people
turned up, many of them were wolves, Brides-of-Frankenstein, witches, goblins and other sundry characters from the underworld so that was ok.
Our friends from SCOPE arrived and had a merry old time. To those who don’t know, we have been supporting the local SCOPE group for some years now and all money raised goes to help support the families of children with cerebral palsy.
As the hall began to fill with various un-dead etc., the first band came on. Powder Money put on a brilliant set and soon had the dance floor heaving. The band entered into the spirit of the event and had all come in fancy dress. It was as if the gates of hell had opened up and all the ghouls had come to play. Of the many different fancy dress outfits that had been thought up there were a few ladies who must have hoped that the hall vas going to very warm judging by what they were not wearing!
It soon became clear that the turnout was up on last year and the place was really swinging by the time the second band came on.
Ratzinasack have supported this event before and didn’t disappoint this time either.
Chris came as a werewolf, or so we thought but it turned out it was just him.
The band played a storming set and if you ever get a chance to see either of these bands they are well worth a look.
At 10.30 the band broke for the raffle. Marianne had done a superb job getting it all together as well as going round selling the tickets all night. Mick was a happy ghoul when he discovered he’d won the Jack Daniels
but not as happy as Daz the corpse-bridegroom when he found out he’d won the powder coating! A list of the sponsors is at the bottom.
Best fancy dress was next up for a prize and it went to a young school girl who was in fact no such thing. Turns out that she was a he “hey babe, take a walk on the wild side.” Well done to him/her who won a bottle of vodka. Once the formalities were over it was back over to Ratz for the second half of their set and with the masses now well oiled, the party moved into top gear.
The evening was rounded
off with Paul and his disco till midnight when the gates of hell opened up again to reclaim the banished ones back to the under world.
Thanks must go to Stella and her staff, at the British Sugar Sports and Social Club for all their hard work, there were more people to serve than we had expected and they worked like the very devil was chasing them all night. Many thanks people.
Thanks to the sponsors who donated prizes for the raffle, they are as follows:-
Mark and Bella from Precision Cableforms and Terminations Ltd. for paying for the hall hire, and working on the door all night.
John Thurlbourn Powder Coating. £120 worth of powder coating.

Ian and Erick at Ekquire Motorcycles for the Battery charger.
HAGA for the dinner service.

We would also like to thank the many unnamed people who came along and helped out on the night. |
